Paper Abstract

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), globally over 80% of adolescent do not get enough physical activity.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years.

Only 23% of U.S. children ages 6-17 meet the recommended guidelines of at least 60 minutes of physical activity per day, as per CDC.

WHO estimates that 41 million children under the age of five are overweight or obese worldwide.

Children who are physically active tend to have better academic scores, improved cognitive function, self-esteem, and mental health. However, only 24% of school-aged children in the U.S. participate in daily physical activity during PE classes, reports CDC.
